UN experts* today expressed deep concern over the detention of Algerian journalist and human rights defender Hassan Bouras, who faces serious risks after several weeks on hunger strike in detention.

According to the UN experts, Bouras was arrested on 12 April 2026 by plainclothes security officers outside his home in El Bayadh.
